Vivo V11 Pro was one among my favourite phones in 2018. In the review of that phone I noted that I absolutely loved the design, the sAMOLED display and the performance of the V11 Pro. Cameras of the V11 Pro were good within the same way. With the V11 Pro, Vivo offered in-display fingerprint sensor to Indian consumers at and affordable price point. This then became one of the cool features and soon more smartphone companies included a similar sensor in their phones. One week ago, Vivo launched the successor to the V11 Pro in India: the V15 Pro. With this phone, Vivo brings another new innovative technology to the mainstream market -- the pop-up selfie camera.
Back in 2018 with the NEX, Vivo introduced the pop-up selfie camera technology to the planet but the phone was too expensive for many consumers, particularly in India. Now, Vivo has launched the V15 Pro with the similar pop-up camera setup, but at a comparatively cheaper price of Rs 28,990. In fact, the pop-up camera mechanism is improved, because it is smoother and sturdier within the V15 Pro.
I have been using the V15 Pro for around 10 days now and may say that almost like its predecessor this Vivo phone also does a reasonably good job in terms of display, design and the camera performance. It is also great to finally see a Vivo phone coming with Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box.

Stunning design
Lately, Vivo has been making some beautiful smartphones across all price segments. The V15 Pro is no exception. The device looks ravishing and I feel it is one the best-looking smartphones available under Rs 30,000 in India right now. The V15 Pro features a dual tone design that Vivo calls "Spectrum Ripple Design". Keeping aside the flamboyant term that Vivo is using for the planning , the looks of the V15 Pro are extremely eye catchy. The Vivo V15 Pro comes in two colours in India - Topaz Blue and Ruby Red.
Almost everything about the planning of the V15 Pro is sweet . But it might are great if Vivo had not used a plastic back cover. A phone on the brink of Rs 30,000 with a plastic back is slightly disappointing to ascertain in 2019 when even many cheaper phones sport glass back.
Big and bright display
One of the simplest things about the V15 Pro is its display. The screen of the Vivo phone is pretty big and offers an excellent video viewing experience. The Vivo phone sports very minimal bezels and offers a screen-to-body-ratio of 91.64 per cent. I believe just like the V11 Pro the V15 Pro are going to be an honest choice for you if you are a movie buff or a gamer. The V15 Pro also offers pretty good viewing angles and shows vibrant colours.
The Vivo V15 Pro uses an enormous 6.39-inch Ultra FullView -- Vivo's buzzword for the technology it's using in its phone -- display with a facet ratio of 19:9. One of the explanations why the screen of the V15 Pro is so good is because it uses OLED panel, which tend to be brighter and more vibrant. I found the Vivo V15 Pro screen to be adequately bright altogether lighting conditions -- be it under blazing sunlight or a not so well-lit room. The Vivo V15 Pro also comes with adaptive brightness also as allows users to fiddle with the color temperature of the screen supported their requirement.
To recall, the Vivo V11 Pro was a particularly sleek phone and also lightweight. But sadly that may not the case with the new V15 Pro. The new Vivo phone feels slightly heavy in hands.
Camera performance: Mixed bag, pops out smoothly
Vivo has given some special attention to the camera -- or rather cameras -- of the Vivo V15 Pro. The smartphone includes not two but three cameras on the back.
As for the specs, on the rear panel the Vivo V15 Pro features a primary 12-megapixel (48 Million Quad Pixel Sensor) camera with f/1.8 aperture. The main "48-megapixel" camera uses Samsung GM 1 sensor, and by default uses pixel-binning to click 12-megapixel images. This is the proper approach, and it's nice to ascertain Vivo sticking to 12-megapixel photos by default. The secondary camera of the Vivo phone uses an 8-megapixel AI super wide-angle sensor, and therefore the third may be a 5-megapixel camera that helps users click portrait shots.
Overall the rear camera of the V15 Pro does a reasonably good job altogether lightning conditions. It click photos that have good amount of details but the colours sometimes end up looking oversaturated. Some people will like these extra punchy colours, some will not.
For the V15 Pro's main camera Vivo uses "four-in-one-pixel" technology or pixel binning technique to mix four adjacent pixels into one 1.6um large pixel to deliver better quality 12-megapixel photos. In other words the V15 Pro doesn't offer a real "48-megapixel" camera but that shouldn't bother you because by combining pixels together it actually clicks photos pictures that are smaller in size and higher in quality. In other words: it's win win for users.
Most of the photographs clicked in daylight with the V15 Pro show good amount of details, something that's results of the pixel binning. Colours, though, in these photos end up oversaturated, which I believe is because of the way the camera algorithms process photos in this phone. May be with a software update, Vivo should consider dialling down on the colors in photos that V15 pro clicks.
