REDMI K20 PRO
Back in July, Xiaomi proudly unveiled the Redmi K20 Pro ahead of an eagerly waiting audience and it stunned all of Xiaomi's 'Mi Fans' also as regular phone users. albeit a debate was raging on over the worth , the Redmi K20 Pro got off to an honest start and that we loved it at India Today Tech. The K20 Pro at that point had a shocking design and flagship-grade specifications to supply at a price that would only fetch you phones with midrange specifications. And even after five months, it's still an equivalent case. The Redmi K20 Pro is that the cheapest phone using better of Qualcomm's 2019 chip.
However, the Redmi K20 Pro impressed me tons right after we unboxed it. The phone has been in somebody's hands throughout the five months and that i finally need to use it since the last month. Coming from a OnePlus 7T Pro, I had some reservations about the Redmi K20 Pro, especially about its performance, the cluttered MIUI interface and therefore the camera performance. However, the Redmi K20 Pro has been in my pocket ever since and that i refuse to spare it.
Now, because the Redmi K30 is round the corner, i made a decision to share my experience with the Redmi K20 Pro. Is it good? Is it bad? Is it average? At the time of scripting this piece, the Redmi K20 Pro remains my primary phone and that i don't see the other phone replacing it within the next few months. There are good reasons for that.
Redmi K20 Pro still kills with the way it's
Many have taken the Redmi K20 Pro because the successor to the Poco F1 and that is where i would like to prove them wrong. The Poco F1 was a quick phone but it wasn't built well. The Redmi K20 Pro, on the opposite hand, feels premium from every angle. There's premium glass panel on the front and back, with a metal frame forming the chassis. I even have been using the Flame Red variant and in whichever angle you choose it up, it's stunning. The flame gradient is bonkers to seem at and that i wish Xiaomi had carried it to the Redmi K30. The Carbon Fiber variant also looks great.
More than the color , what i really like about the Redmi K20 Pro is that it feels extremely light despite having a pop-up camera system. It's slim and therefore the flat display makes it easy to use. I even have been using the phone without a case and therefore the Redmi K20 Pro has made it difficult to adapt to the other phone, even without a case. the load balance and therefore the ergonomics are good . then there's the illuminated pop-up camera that's simply cool.
Five months of wear and tear and tear have taken a toll on the device. check out extreme angles and you'll find a few of scratches on both the glass surfaces, especially towards the sides . However, that's normal for any phone and even with a couple of accidental drops, the Redmi K20 Pro has delayed well. The Redmi K20 Pro could also be affordable but it seems like it is a phone that's worth quite Rs 40,000.
With MIUI 11, the Redmi K20 is quicker and smoother than ever
The Redmi K20 Pro is top priority for Xiaomi when it involves delivering the newest updates. In October, the Redmi K20 Pro got the Android 10 update and in late November, my unit picked up the MIUI 11 update. Ever since the update came, the phone has only gotten better. The MIUI 11 skin is far easier to measure with and has more intuitive interface with features that make using the phone easier on a day-to-day basis. Do note that the Redmi K20 Pro uses the Poco Launcher 2.0 and hence, you get an app drawer with colour-coded app labels.
The new MIUI interface makes the foremost of Android 10, especially with its dark mode and gesture navigation. The interface is one among the foremost polished ones I even have seen this year, narrowly beating OnePlus' Oxygen OS (hey, that's my personal opinion, your preferences may vary. So don't start abusing OnePlus fans). MIUI 11 is smooth and swift when it involves multitasking and launching regular apps on the move. better of all, there are not any bugs that spoil the user experience (at least as of now). I keep playing tons of PUBG MOBILE and therefore the gameplay has been smooth thus far , with no drops in frames or lags.
The in-display fingerprint sensor has also improved in terms of detection although I wish the detection area could are larger to accommodate more area . The 6.3-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display in itself is great to seem at and because of slim bezels, watching videos on the phone may be a joy.
The 4000mAh battery is sweet enough to form the phone last for a whole day even after five months. In fact, I ended most days at 35 per cent, which is impressive for a phone using the Snapdragon 855 chip. The 18W fast charging takes an hour to refill from 30 per cent to 100 per cent.
Cameras still have some room for improvement
This is the sole area where the Redmi K20 Pro disappoints. The Redmi K20 Pro on paper has similar camera setup because the OnePlus 7T Pro, including the 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor because the main camera, a 13MP wide angle camera and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera. However, Xiaomi's camera algorithms cannot make the simplest out of the hardware available. Daylight photos look good but the sharpness and colour vibrancy may be a tad below than what the OnePlus 7 Pro does. The telephoto camera can only zoom optically twice whereas the ultra-wide camera only performs satisfactorily in daylight. The 20Mp selfie camera is decent in taking selfies and features Xiaomi's exceptional portrait mode photos.
Now, i do know that Xiaomi's software is that the issue. I installed the newest GCam mod and it does a much better job at taking photos, especially at low light. With the GCam mod, the camera is nearly as good because the OnePlus and Samsung flagships. Xiaomi could work with Google within the future to urge the tuning of its cameras right for upcoming phones.
Conclusion
The Redmi K20 Pro may be a great phone once you consider all things. it's spent five months at India Today Tech and has had a couple of change of hands before it ended up in my pockets. in any case the daily usage abuse for five months, the Redmi K20 Pro still performs also as when it had been new, if not better. the newest MIUI 11 update has polished the phone further and performance is on par with the other premium flagship phone you'll stock 2019. quite anything it, it feels special once you use it- because of the lightweight body, stunning gradients and spot-on ergonomics. The cameras still need some tuning from Xiaomi but a GCam mod can extract the simplest out of it.
On the entire , i think there is no better phone at Rs 26,000 that you simply can purchase now. The Redmi K20 Pro may be a great option for premium smartphone buyers and albeit you purchase it now, i think you'll be happy using it a day .
